JICA helps Cho Ray Hospital fight Covid-19

Must read

HCMC – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on July 27 handed over medical equipment, including an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine and PCR test kits, to Cho Ray Hospital in HCMC to assist the hospital to fight Covid-19.

In June, the agency decided to provide the hospital with essential equipment valued at 60 million yen.

JICA has been cooperating with Cho Ray Hospital since 2016 to strengthen patient safety management, the multi-professional team approach and infection control with the aim of providing high-quality medical services. The equipment provided will be used to treat Covid-19 patients and will also help improve the capacity of Cho Ray Hospital in Covid-19 infection control.

“The timely support from JICA is so critically and effectively important to us, especially since we are facing another wave of Covid-19 in Danang City after nearly 100 days with no local infections in Vietnam,” Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, director of Cho Ray Hospital, said at the handover ceremony.

JICA will continue working with the Japanese Government to help Vietnam combat infectious diseases, including Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
