HCMC – The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has confirmed that construction work on the Long Thanh International Airport project is progressing on schedule, with the rough-in expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
ACV Chairman Vu The Phiet provided this update during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s tour of the project site on September 24. Phiet noted that all construction packages are meeting deadlines, with some key items, such as the air traffic control tower and runway, ahead of schedule.
The plan aims for key components to be completed by December 31, 2025, followed by the installation of specialized equipment to ensure the airport is operational by 2026.
Phiet also proposed the development of connecting roads, including the expansion of HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway and the construction of Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, to facilitate the airport’s operation. Additionally, ACV suggested developing a second runway.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Chinh urged all relevant units to establish clear timelines to ensure the project stays on track. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strict quality control, environmental protection, and proper living conditions for workers.
