HCMC – The Government has instructed relevant agencies to speed up component two of the Khanh Hoa–Buon Ma Thuot Expressway, with its technical opening scheduled before September 2, 2026, and full completion of the entire route by the end of 2026.
At a working session in Dak Lak Province on March 19, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung asked investors to accelerate progress across all components, making use of the current dry season.
Authorities in Dak Lak were also requested to resolve remaining issues to ensure the expressway is put into operation on schedule, and to continue plans for rest areas and intelligent transport systems.
At the meeting, Truong Cong Thai, vice chairman of the Dak Lak People’s Committee, proposed developing a road linking the expressway’s endpoint with the province’s East-West route. The deputy PM assigned ministries and agencies to coordinate with the province to submit a detailed proposal for this road.
The Khanh Hoa–Buon Ma Thuot expressway is over 117 kilometers long, with total capital of nearly VND22 trillion. It comprises three components: component 1, over 31 km, managed by Khanh Hoa Province; component 2, nearly 37 km, implemented by the Ministry of Construction; and component 3, over 48 km, managed by Dak Lak Province.
Component 3 was technically opened on December 19, 2025, with over 94% of construction completed as of mid-March 2026. Component 2 is around 64% complete. The first 20 km of component 1 was also technically opened on December 19, 2025.
