“Business alongside community values” has been the guiding philosophy of KMS Technology since its inception. KMS Technology is a 15-year software services company headquartered in the U.S. with development centers in Vietnam and Mexico.
Over the 15-year operation, KMS has grown to a team of over 1,500 employees globally. It has been professionally recognized for the quality of its services and honored as a great place to work in Vietnam, Asia, and the United States for many consecutive years.
Alongside company-operated activities, one of the most notable aspects of KMS’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy is encouraging employees to propose their own community initiatives, which are then financially supported and guided by the company. This collaborative approach empowers employees to develop a spirit of giving that spreads throughout the community, resulting in numerous impactful and high-quality support programs.
For example, in response to the rising need to protect the environment, An Truong (KMS Software) stepped up to lead the first “Chay Nhat” project in Danang, where over 20 KMSers ran and collected more than 70 kg of rubbish along Son Tra Peninsula in August 2024. “It was beyond our expectations to receive such a positive response from KMSers for the first time the event was organized in Da Nang. I am thrilled to contribute to such a meaningful event, to help KMSers improve health, and form the habit of reducing plastic waste.”, shared An.
“At KMS, we do not limit the contribution potential of each employee to strengthen the spirit of giving back to the community whenever possible,” said Tran Trong Dai, managing director of KMS Technology. Dai explained that the company provides financial support and operational experience to individuals with ideas for community activities, helping to motivate and instill confidence in them to contribute more to the community.
This approach has enabled KMS to implement a growing number of projects each year. As of June 2024, the company had contributed over 21,000 hours globally, with nearly 2,000 volunteers participating in 122 different projects through various activities spanning education, healthcare, and the environment.
Leveraging technological strengths
Following the slogan “Give Strengths and Build Givers”, KMS leverages its technological strengths to support nonprofits and individuals in need through various projects.
A notable example is KMS Technology’s collaboration with Newborns Vietnam to reduce the neonatal mortality rate in Vietnam. Specifically, KMS invested in developing an E-portfolio for a specialized neonatal training program and a Learning Management System to track the outcomes of neonatal resuscitation training for medical professionals across 58 provinces in Vietnam.
Additionally, with its experienced and dedicated team of engineers, KMS has continuously provided advanced technical training courses for IT students from organizations such as the French NGO, Passerelles Numériques Vietnam (PNV), notably in automated testing since 2021.
The KMS Mentorship Program is another initiative in which KMS employees dedicate significant time and effort to supporting students from organizations like Passerelles Numériques Vietnam and VietHope. The program aims to equip them with essential skills, offer real-world insights into the IT industry, share experiences, and provide guidance to help shape future career paths.
One of KMS’s proud projects is the “Uom Mam” scholarship program for underprivileged IT students with outstanding academic achievements nationwide. Over four years, the scholarship has supported more than VND300 million in tuition and living expenses, helping students pursue their university dreams, which seemed unattainable. Many scholarship recipients have secured positions at prominent companies in the market after graduation.
Spreading the spirit of giving in the community
KMS also strives to connect the IT community to contribute to creating better values for society. “Move IT” – an annual online charity run initiated by KMS – aims to promote health and raise funds to support IT students.
2024 marked the fourth year of the event, with enthusiastic participation from over 600 runners, including employees from tech companies and IT students across 38 provinces in Vietnam. The event set a record with 23,478 km logged, raising VND47.5 million for scholarships for underprivileged IT students.
The community spirit was also evident in the 20th humanitarian blood donation event held in HCMC and, for the first time, in Danang at the end of 2023. With the collective efforts of staff and the community, 68,250 ml of “life” was shared by donors in the two cities, helping to sustain the “bank of life.”
Throughout its 15 years of providing software services, KMS Technology may not have tangible products to give away. Yet, with its technological strengths combined with the passion of each “Giver,” the company believes it will continue to build on its foundations, spreading the community spirit for a better, more sustainable society.
