HCMC – Heavy rainfall has caused a landslide on a section of National Highway 20, which connects downtown Dalat and the popular Cau Dat tourist area in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The landslide, spanning 18 meters in length and 7-10 meters in depth, has created a large crater that encroaches about 0.5 meters into the roadway. The incident occurred in Xuan Truong Commune, Dalat City, according to local government.

As of the morning of September 2, only one lane of the highway is open to traffic.

National Highway 20 is a busy route for those visiting attractions like the Cau Dat tea hills and various places of interest. The landslide has disrupted the daily commute for local residents and has negatively impacted tourism in the area.

The problem arose after a heavy downpour that lasted from the afternoon into the evening of September 1, causing part of the road embankment to collapse.

Relevant agencies have taken steps to address the issue, including setting up warning signs, installing barriers, and deploying personnel to manage traffic and monitor the landslide.
