HCMC – A landslide on National Highway 2 passing through Viet Vinh Commune, Bac Quang District, Ha Giang Province left 10 people injured and two others missing.
Nguyen Dinh Quang, chairman of the Viet Vinh People’s Committee, said the landslide occurred at kilometer 51 on National Highway 2 at 8 a.m. this morning, September 29.
Preliminary reports showed that about 10 people were injured, while two others are missing, Quang said, adding that the authorities are actively searching for the victims.
The incident also destroyed two cars, several motorbikes, and buried at least two houses.
National Highway 2, connecting Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang provinces, is temporarily closed as the authorities are conducting rescue operations.
According to the chairman of Viet Vinh, this morning, a flash flood in Thuong My Hamlet, Viet Vinh Commune swept away four houses, leaving one person missing.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported heavy downpours in several parts of Ha Giang this morning, raising the risk of flash floods in rivers and streams, as well as landslides in Bac Quang, Hoang Su Phi, Quang Binh, and Vi Xuyen districts.
