HCMC – Trade through the Kim Thanh Border Gate in Lao Cai Province reached over US$1.6 million on January 1, 2025, according to customs data.
As of 2 p.m. on New Year’s Day, exports accounted for nearly US$929,000, while imports totaled over US$710,000, the Lao Cai Customs Office reported.
Key exports included agricultural products such as dragon fruit, watermelon, durian, jackfruit, banana, mango, cassava, and rambutan. Imports primarily comprised flowers, ornamental plants, and fresh vegetables.
Local authorities noted that customs and border management teams had worked to streamline procedures and ensure the smooth flow of goods, reducing administrative steps and expediting clearance for businesses.
In 2024, total trade through Lao Cai’s border gates reached nearly US$2.5 billion, contributing VND840.6 billion to the state budget.
