Lao leader begins state visit to Vietnam

HCMC – Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, accompanied by his spouse Naly Sisoulith, arrived in Hanoi today, January 26, starting a two-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse.

The Lao leader and his spouse were welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport by Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and State Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Members of the Party Central Committee: Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai, and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam.

President Thongloun Sisoulith is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including high-ranking delegation comprising Politburo members, senior Party and State leaders, a deputy prime minister, ministers, and heads of key central agencies.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam, Vietnam being President Thongloun Sisoulith’s first official overseas destination after the recent party congresses in both countries underscores the strong political trust between the two parties and states.

Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphau Ernthavanh said the visit is expected to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in advancing strategic connectivity, and to accelerate the implementation of high-level agreements and shared development goals in the new phase of cooperation.
