HCMC – Police in the mountainous northern province of Lao Cai have arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in a large drug trafficking ring, seizing 72,000 pills of synthetic drugs.
Earlier, the police discovered an inter-provincial drug trafficking ring in Trung Chai Commune, Sa Pa Town, Lao Cai Province.
After following the suspects for some time, the police on November 7 found that Hang Seo Trung was riding a motorcycle, with plate number 23G1-144.82, on the route from Xin Man District in Ha Giang Province, then Nam Po District in Dien Bien Province to Sa Pa Town in Lao Cai, along with Chang Seo San, who was riding another bike.
Trung and San, aged 19 and 24, respectively, are residents of Nan Ma Commune, Xin Man District, Ha Giang Province.
At around 9 p.m in the day, the police approached the two vehicles, arrested the two suspects and seized the volume of drug pills that was hidden in Trung’s backpack.
At a local police station, Trung and San admitted that they bought the drugs worth VND540 million from Dien Bien for resale in Ha Giang. However, they were arrested on their way through Lao Cai.
A deeper investigation by the Lao Cai police also revealed that Trung is wanted by the Ha Giang police for his involvement in human trafficking activities.
The police are further investigating the case.
