Le Minh Hung becomes Vietnam’s Prime Minister

HCMC – Le Minh Hung, a Politburo member, secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission, has been elected as Prime Minister for the 2026-2031 term.

The resolution on Hung’s election to the post of Prime Minister was passed at the National Assembly (NA) session this afternoon, April 7, with all 495 NA deputies present voting in favor.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man then invited Prime Minister Le Minh Hung to take the oath.

In his oath, Hung said he would remain absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution, and would strive to fulfill all duties entrusted to him by the Party, the State and the people.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, born in Ha Tinh Province in 1970, spent many years working at the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) before taking on key positions within the Party. A decade ago, he was appointed Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, becoming the youngest governor in the history of the SBV.
