HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has proposed a VND400-billion budget to upgrade level crossings with enhanced signalling systems to improve traffic safety.

In a report recently sent to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, the ministry says it is planning to upgrade 184 level crossings by installing or repairing railway signalling systems and barriers, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The proposed investment includes over VND361.8 billion dedicated to completing the repair and enhancement of the signalling systems at these crossings. Additionally, more than VND38 billion is earmarked for the settlement of costs related to level crossings that were completed before 2023.

To ensure that the upgrades are completed next year, the Ministry of Transport has also proposed an allocation of VND50 billion from the reserve fund for central budget economic activities this year to initiate the project.
