HCMC – The Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) under the Ministry of Health has issued an urgent directive to provincial health authorities to recall 742 health supplement products manufactured by Herbitech Technology Co.
The recall follows an investigation by the Ministry of Public Security, which identified 67 of these products as counterfeit and another 675 as substandard, with ingredients and concentrations failing to meet registered quality standards. These products were produced or processed between 2018 and 2025 at the company’s facility in the capital city of Hanoi.
Investigators revealed that Herbitech utilized falsified testing reports to bypass regulatory hurdles and distribute its products to the market. In connection with these violations, police have detained Pham Vu Khiem, the company’s director, and three accomplices. Beyond quality-related offenses, the company’s leadership is accused of maintaining a dual accounting system to conceal over VND121 billion in revenue, resulting in more than VND10 billion in lost Value Added Tax (VAT) for the State budget.
The VFA has instructed local health departments and food safety sub-departments to immediately remove all infringing batches from circulation. Any identified products must be seized, and findings must be reported to the Ministry of Public Security for further legal action.
