HCMC – The national aviation authority has asked local carriers to add more flights at night to southern localities to serve a surging travel demand among people after the nine-day lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, there was a soaring number of passengers traveling from local airports in the north, especially the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, after Tet.
On February 6, over 370 flights landed at or took off from Noi Bai, with some 56,000 domestic passengers departing from this airport.
The relevant units dispatched more staff members to serve and support passengers, as well as proactively took measures to offer services in peak hours to prevent congestion.
Local carriers in the day also worked to add over 100 flights scheduled between February 6 and 12, mostly on the busiest Hanoi-HCMC route.
