HCMC – More than 1.1 million passengers traveled through airports in Vietnam during the four-day holiday from April 30 to May 3, down 3.3% year-on-year, according to the national aviation authority’s report recently sent to the Ministry of Transport.
Some 7,700 aircraft movements were recorded at local airports, a year-on-year decline of 12%. Also, 15,900 tons of cargo was transported through the airports, up 7.5% against the 2021 figure.
Regarding the three major local airports, the HCMC-based Tan Son Nhat airport saw 375,000 passenger arrivals and 4,900 tons of commodities transported through the airport, down 7.5% and up 3% year-on-year, respectively, with 2,515 plane movements, inching down 7.5% versus the same period last year.
At the Noi Bai airport in the capital city of Hanoi, the number of aircraft movements reached an estimated 1,960, up 4%, while passenger arrivals stood at 240,000, down 4%, and cargo throughout rose 55% at 9,600 tons.
In central Vietnam, the Danang airport recorded 693 aircraft movements, 94,800 passenger arrivals, and 316 tons of goods, dropping 13%, 8%, and 36% compared to last year’s figures, respectively.
