HCMC – The prices of SJC-brand gold bars at several jewelry businesses have dropped by up to VND1.2 million per tael, settling at around VND85 million for selling as of today, December 16, according to local media reports.
By mid-morning, Saigon Jewelry Company, DOJI, and Bao Tin Minh Chau listed SJC gold bar prices at VND82.6 million per tael for buying and VND85.1 million per tael for selling, a decrease of VND1.2 million on both sides compared to yesterday’s close.
Phu Quy also updated its gold bar prices to VND82.6 million per tael for buying and VND85.1 million per tael for selling, a smaller drop of VND900,000 per tael.
Gold ring prices have also seen significant declines, falling by VND350,000 to VND700,000 per tael.
SJC reported buying prices for gold rings at VND82.6 million per tael and selling prices at VND84.3 million, down by VND700,000 and VND400,000, respectively.
At Bao Tin Minh Chau, plain gold rings were priced at VND83.33 million per tael for buying and VND85.08 million for selling, marking a drop of VND350,000 on both ends.
In the foreign exchange market, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at VND24,272 per U.S. dollar today, an increase of VND8 compared to December 14.
Within the permissible trading band of 5% on either side, Vietcombank adjusted its dollar rates to VND25,185 for buying and VND25,485 for selling, also up by VND8.
