Local gold prices surge

HCMC – Domestic gold prices jumped this morning, September 16, with SJC gold quoted at VND132 million per tael on the selling side, up around VND1 million from the previous day.

As of 9 a.m., major dealers such as SJC, DOJI Group, and Bao Tin Minh Chau raised their gold bar prices by VND1.4 million per tael for buying and VND900,000 for selling, quoting them at VND130 million and VND132 million, respectively.

Phu Quy Company posted its buy-sell prices at VND129.5-132 million per tael, increasing by VND2 million on the buying side and VND900,000 on the selling side. The buy-sell gap narrowed to VND2-2.5 million per tael.

Gold ring prices also soared. SJC quoted them at VND126 million per tael for buying and VND129 million for selling, up VND1 million on both sides. At Bao Tin Minh Chau, prices rose by VND800,000 on both sides, standing at VND127.6 million for buying and VND130.6 million for selling.

Globally, spot gold rose 1.1% to US$3,680.8 per ounce as of 12:44 a.m. (Vietnam time), after briefly hitting a record high of US$3,685.39. December gold futures closed 0.8% higher at US$3,719 per ounce, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
