HCMC – Long An Province has revised its plan to upgrade Road DT.830C at a total cost of VND1.85 trillion, aiming to commence construction this year.

The nine-kilometer road will enhance connectivity between Ben Luc Town and HCMC, with 8.3 kilometers to be upgraded to meet urban road standards.

According to the Long An Project Management Board, the upgrade will cover the section from Nguyen Huu Tho Street in Ben Luc  to HCMC’s Binh Chanh District boundary. The initial 0.7-kilometer section from Nguyen Huu Tho to Nguyen Van Tiep Street will retain its current state, featuring a 12-meter-wide asphalt surface on a 22-meter-wide roadbed.

The remaining 8.3 kilometers will undergo substantial upgrades to urban standards, expanding to a 20-meter-wide asphalt roadway on a 30-meter-wide foundation. The project will also include modern infrastructure such as drainage systems, curbs, sidewalks, green spaces, and street lighting.

Nguyen Van Ut, chairman of the Long An People’s Committee, said that the project aligns with the province’s transport development plan through 2020, with a vision toward 2030. The enhanced DT.830C is expected to facilitate the transportation of goods, ease congestion on National Highway 1, and promote regional trade and services.

The road’s surroundings are designated for residential, urban, and commercial developments spanning over 800 hectares, with investor selection processes currently underway.

Initially approved in December 2022 with an estimated cost of VND971 billion, including VND220 billion for site clearance, the project faced delays due to disagreements over compensation rates and funding shortages. The revised budget now allocates approximately VND1.1 trillion for site clearance alone, following a review.

Once funding is secured, relevant authorities will expedite the land clearance process to meet the target of breaking ground within the year.
