HCMC – Hanoi City will close Long Bien Bridge to all road traffic for 60 days from March 28 to carry out urgent repairs, according to the city’s Department of Construction.
The closure covers the entire road section of the bridge in both directions, affecting motorcycles and non-motorized vehicles.
The works will repair pedestrian paths and lanes for motorcycles and rudimentary vehicles on both sides of the bridge, part of the Hanoi–Dong Dang railway line, according to the department, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted to Chuong Duong Bridge.
Vehicles traveling from Bo De Ward to Hoan Kiem Ward will be rerouted via Long Bien 1 and Long Bien 2 streets, then along Long Bien and Xuan Quan roads to access Chuong Duong Bridge.
In the opposite direction, traffic from Yen Phu and Hang Dau areas will move along Tran Nhat Duat Street to the roundabout at the foot of Chuong Duong Bridge before crossing. Vehicles from Tran Quang Khai Street and the 401 dike road will follow the same route.
Bicycles will be allowed to travel in both directions on the mixed-use lane of Chuong Duong Bridge.
The traffic restrictions will take effect from 9:00 a.m. on March 28 and remain in place until May 27, 2026.
