HCMC – Despite the national holiday from April 27 to May 1, contractors of the Long Thanh International Airport project are maintaining construction work as usual, with 5,000 workers mobilized round the clock, according to the Long Thanh International Airport Project Management Board.

Key packages, including the passenger terminal, runways and the air traffic control tower, are on track, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

Taking advantage of the dry weather, construction work is being pushed during the holiday period to ensure the project is completed on schedule. With the rainy season expected to arrive in Dong Nai Province in weeks, the current period presents an opportunity to make significant strides in construction work.

Work on Long Thanh International Airport began in 2021, with commercial operation slated for 2026. Phase one of the airport would be able to handle 25 million passengers annually, with a subsequent expansion to accommodate 50 million and ultimately 100 million passengers per year in phases two and three, respectively.
