HCMC – The Long Thanh International Airport will need around 13,700 workers when it is put into operation, according to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai Province.
The workforce will include over 5,800 workers with undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees, 2,240 with college or vocational training, and 5,700 unskilled laborers.
A sectoral breakdown shows the airport will need 2,961 workers, air traffic management will require 881, air transportation will need 828, and 8,584 workers will be required for aviation-related services.
The People’s Committee of Dong Nai has assigned the labor department to lead the development of a workforce training plan for roles both inside and outside the airport. The plan, which will be carried out from 2024 to 2026, will address long-term human resource needs through 2030.
Local authorities are currently working on a training program to meet the demand ahead of the airport’s expected operational launch in 2026. The proposal is under review by provincial leaders and is expected to be submitted to the Dong Nai Party Committee for approval this October.
Authorities are prioritizing the employment of local residents from Long Thanh District, where the airport is being constructed, in workforce training efforts. Local universities and colleges are encouraged to collaborate with aviation training units certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
