HCMC – Long Thanh International Airport will need to employ 11,000 to 12,000 people when it is put into service.
Nguyen Xuan Phong, head of the Long Thanh International Airport Operations Committee under the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), said at a conference on human resource planning for the airport on March 13 that these employees would work for local and foreign airlines, and companies responsible for ground services, jet fuel supply, air cargo and in-flight catering services.
Personnel for port authority, customs, immigration, health quarantine, and animal and plant quarantine are not included in this count.
Covering 5,000 hectares, Long Thanh International Airport requires a total investment of VND336,630 billion, equivalent to US$16.3 billion.
The project is developed in three phases, with Phase 1 designed to accommodate 25 million passengers and handle 1.2 million tons of cargo annually. Upon full completion, Long Thanh will have four runways, four passenger terminals, and comprehensive support facilities, with a capacity to serve 100 million passengers and handle five million tons of cargo annually.
