HCMC – Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province will welcome its first flight from Hanoi on December 19, marking the inauguration of the project’s first phase.

Nguyen Tien Viet, deputy general director of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), said that construction at the site is being accelerated to stay on schedule.

Key connecting roads, such as routes T1 and T2, have either been completed or are set to technically open to traffic in August.

Construction on the airport’s internal infrastructure is also being sped up, with the terminal roof completed and glass walls expected to be finished by the end of August.

Interior works are scheduled for completion in September, while part of the jet bridge system has been installed, with 36 bridges expected to be in place by December 31. The baggage conveyor system is also being installed.

To prepare for the airport’s operation, ACV has proposed that Dong Nai Province expedite the completion of the frontage road along connection route No. 1, provide additional fill materials for the runway foundation, and accelerate repairs on the Dong Nai Bridge and Tan Van interchange to facilitate the transportation of equipment and construction personnel.
