HCMC – The expansion joint repair on Long Thanh Bridge along the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway will be completed by 12 p.m. today, July 25, with normal traffic set to resume afterward, said the HCMC Department of Construction.

The project, managed by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), began construction on July 15.

During the repair period, one lane in the direction from Dong Nai to HCMC was closed, causing serious traffic congestion on the expressway and surrounding areas, especially on weekends.

To ease traffic pressure, the HCMC Department of Construction coordinated with the city’s police to guide alternative routes via National Highway 1, National Highway 51, the Cat Lai Ferry, and the Vung Tau-Can Gio coastal ferry.

At the same time, the department also worked with VEC to accelerate the construction progress.

The HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, stretching 55 kilometers and in operation since 2015 with four lanes, is now overloaded.

In August, construction is expected to begin on the expansion of the section from Beltway No. 2 to the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway interchange. Additionally, the An Phu- Beltway No.2 section, managed by HCMC, is also scheduled for upgrading later this year.
