CAN THO – Compared to the previous proposal, the new toll fees for the Trung Luong-My Thuan expressway have been reduced, with the highest rate set at VND335,000.
Ly Hoang Chieu, chief of the Tien Giang government’s office, said on August 2 that the State Inspection Council already approved the appraisal result of the expressway, while the Ministry of Transport passed a new toll proposal made by the provincial government.
Under the proposal, cars under 12 seats, trucks below two tons and public buses would be charged VND2,000 per kilometer, down VND100 per kilometer from the level earlier proposed by the investor, Trung Luong-My Thuan BOT JSC. The fee would amount to VND103,000 if vehicles use the entire route.
The fee charged on vehicles with 12-30 seats and trucks weighing two to four tons remains unchanged at VND3,000 per kilometer, meaning the fee for the entire route would be VND154,000.
Passenger coaches with 31 seats or above and trucks below 10 tons would pay VND3,500 per kilometer, down VND200. In addition, trucks weighing 10-18 tons for each kilometer will be charged VND4,500, declining by VND1,500.
The toll fee charged on trucks weighing 18 tons or more and 40-foot container vehicles has been revised down to VND6,500 from VND8,400 per kilometer, meaning the fee would reach VND335,000 if vehicles use the entire route.
The new fees will start to be collected after Trung Luong-My Thuan BOT JSC gives the nod, said Chieu.
Toll collection will last 14 years and eight months.
Over the past 90 days of free operations, over 2.2 million vehicles have used the Trung Luong-My Thuan expressway, according to the investor of the expressway.
