Queensland Transnational Education (TNE) Conference, Queensland, Australia organized in Vietnam
The conference marked a new and sustainable development in educational cooperation between Vietnam and Queensland, Australia. In 2023, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Australia, the Conference on Education on March 2 was the first activity to develop international cooperation programs between educational institutions in Vietnam and the State of Queensland.
“The Government of Queensland is committed to supporting the state’s international education and training institutions in establishing and strengthening partnerships in Vietnam. Our development activities include holding meetings and informing stakeholders and key partners about Queensland’s potential. Focus on supporting international students and educational institutions, as well as organizing related events. This is supported by a series of targeted networking activities aimed at creating a unified image to promote Queensland,” the Minister of International Education of Queensland, Mr. Stirling Hinchliffe, said at the Conference.
Studying in Australia is a trend chosen by many Vietnamese students
In 2022, according to a report by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission Authority in Vietnam (Austrade), Australia is currently the 4th country on the map of international studies abroad of Vietnam. In particular, the climate of Queensland is relatively similar to that of Vietnam, the state has more than 300 education and training service providers with five universities ranked in the top 150 in the world, according to Young Universities ranking of Times Higher Education in 2022. In addition, in Queensland, there are more than 120 research centers across the state to meet all educational needs from preschool to high school, English training, vocational training, higher education, postgraduate education, and Ph.D.
In addition to well-known professions such as Trade, Professional Services, Information Technology, Engineering, Queensland educational institutions now offer courses met the needs of each country’s industry and industries that will develop in the future such as agriculture, marine and environmental science, tropical medicine or new energies.
During their studies in Queensland, Vietnamese students will have the opportunity to improve their English by interacting with Australian students as well as international students from many other parts of the world, creating the richness between ideas and intercultural understanding in learning.
“There are several reasons why Queensland is such a good study destination. Queensland is a place where you can develop practical skills and valuable relationships in the real world. Many international cooperation programs between educational institutions in Vietnam and Queensland are highly appreciated. I hope that after today’s seminar, other seeds of this partnership will be sown, in order to promote cooperation in the development of both education systems and to offer better opportunities for students,” said Mr. Stirling Hinchlife.
Many activities promote educational cooperation between Vietnam and Queensland
During the event, many plans were announced, in particular a memorandum of understanding between Griffith University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, and a memorandum of understanding between Shafston International College and Hanoi International College. This is a remarkable memorandum of understanding for the relationship of cooperation between universities in long-term and effective training programs of both parties.
The memorandum of understanding between the universities of the two countries brings many benefits to the research and training education sector in Vietnam and Queensland, which is an opportunity for educational institutions to enrich their multicultural experience through Australian training programs in general, and the State of Queensland in particular in Vietnam. The “study abroad in Vietnam and gain an Australian degree” program, will help students obtain international degrees without having to study abroad away from home.
