Located along Lang Su Stream in Thach Lam Commune, Thach Thanh District, May Waterfall is about 100 kilometers from Thanh Hoa City. Rising 100 meters, the waterfall features nine distinct levels, with each adding to its natural splendor.

Legend has it that nine celestial fairies once bathed in the waterfall during their earthly journey. When called back to Heaven by the Jade Emperor, they left behind nine footprints that transformed into the tiers of the cascade. Locals hold a romantic belief that couples who bathe in its water will strengthen their bond and eventually marry.

The waterfall flows year-round but is most captivating between June and August. On sunny days, its crystal-clear water sparkle in the sunlight. Visitors can enjoy the refreshing streams and take a dip in the natural pools at its base, making it a perfect escape from the summer heat.

The area surrounding May Waterfall is home to the Muong ethnic community, which has preserved its rich cultural heritage. Visitors can admire traditional stilt houses, some over 200 years old, and experience the unique traditions of the Muong people, who have lived in harmony with this scenic landscape for generations.

Situated within the Cuc Phuong National Park, May Waterfall also offers a gateway to the park’s extraordinary biodiversity. As Vietnam’s first national park, Cuc Phuong spans 25,000 hectares and is home to a lush tropical rainforest, rare plants, and endangered wildlife, including the critically threatened Delacour’s langur, an iconic species of the park.

Beyond May Waterfall, Thach Thanh District boasts numerous attractions such as Con Moong Cave, Muong Don Communal House, Vo Am Hot Spring, Den and Voi waterfalls, Canh Yen Pagoda, and the historical Ngoc Trao site.
