HCMC – The Mekong Delta region will start work on multiple major infrastructure projects on August 19, including the inauguration of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and the groundbreaking of new energy, transport, and housing projects.
Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, connecting Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces, will open after more than three years of construction, five months ahead of schedule. The project has a total investment of nearly VND6.81 trillion. Authorities expect the bridge to ease traffic congestion and boost economic growth, tourism, and local living standards, reported local media.
In Can Tho City, two major projects will commence construction on the same day to mark the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution of 1945 and National Day of Vietnam (September 2). These include the O Mon 4 thermal power plant, developed by state-run Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (Petrovietnam), and a housing project for workers in the An Nghiep Industrial Park.
Meanwhile, An Giang Province will begin work on the main coastal route leading into Ha Tien City, valued at VND1.4 trillion. The province will also inaugurate two completed projects: the 20-kilometer N1 regional road linking Dong Thap and An Giang, with an investment of over VND2.13 trillion; and the new An Giang Theater, which cost more than VND215 billion and has a 1,000-seat capacity.
Separately, in the former province of Soc Trang, authorities have allocated more than 28,000 square meters of land for Aranya Vietnam JSC to build a housing complex for industrial workers in An Nghiep Industrial Park. The project, with an investment of over VND874 billion, will include six social housing towers of 9 to 15 floors with around 1,050 apartments, along with one commercial building of up to 15 floors. Completion is expected in three years.
