HCMC – Metro Line No. 1 in HCMC is falling behind schedule as it cannot start trial service in July and commercial service in the third quarter as earlier planned.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio recently sent a diplomatic note to HCMC Chairman Phan Van Mai, discussing the progress and issues regarding Metro Line No. 1, which connects Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Theme Park.

Given the current progress, the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien urban railway will not be able to conduct trial operations in July and start commercial service in the third quarter as previously planned by the Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC (MAUR).

Upon receiving the ambassador’s diplomatic note, MAUR reported to the HCMC People’s Committee and continued discussions with contractors, especially Hitachi, to expedite the delivery of equipment and systems to start workforce training.
