MIC proposes not publicizing identity, travel history of Covid-19 patients

Must read

HCMC – The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has written to the Ministry of Health asking it to announce only venues and areas associated with Covid-19 positive cases instead of publicizing the identity and travel history of Covid-19 patients.

Although publicizing information about Covid-19 cases has helped contact tracing and kept residents away from virus-hit areas, many Covid-19 patients have been emotionally traumatized after their identities were revealed.

The private lives of the Covid-19 patients and their family members have been disturbed, while their prestige, honor and reputation were debated over and blackened, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

The ministry also proposed that the identities of people that Covid-19 patients came into contact with should not be publicized, the local media reported.

In addition, the Ministry of Information and Communications told the relevant agencies to help news outlets access correct and sufficient information about the Covid-19 situation and the Covid-19 vaccination process.
