HCMC – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has written to the provincial and municipal governments proposing reopening cinemas from January 31.
The proposal is aimed at meeting residents’ demand for entertainment and film experience during the Lunar New Year holiday and helping cinema operators ease financial burden after a hiatus of nearly two years due to the Covid pandemic.
Apart from throwing its weight behind the reopening of cinemas in Hanoi and other provinces and cities, the ministry also ordered cinemas to comply Covid safety protocols and work with local healthcare centers to manage to control coronavirus infection clusters after detecting a Covid case after the resumption.
Cinema audiences must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and strictly follow pandemic prevention measures in line with the Health Ministry’s guidelines, the local media reported.
Cinemas are places which can comply with Covid safety measures in line with the Health Ministry’s directives as moviegoers can buy tickets online while the seating arrangement can be designed to ensure social distancing among audiences, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Culture concluded after collecting feedback from the Health Ministry.
