HCMC – The Vietnam Airlines Group, comprising Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO, has recently announced to add more domestic flights, raising the total number of seats available for the Tet holiday travel season to 2.64 million.
In this latest move, the group has introduced an additional 66,200 seats, equivalent to 310 domestic flights, to cater to the strong air travel demand during the peak period from January 25 to February 24, 2024. The first day of the long Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday is February 10.
These extra flights will primarily serve the routes connecting HCMC and key destinations such as Hanoi, Danang, Haiphong, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Hue, Quang Nam, Tuy Hoa, Dalat, Cam Ranh, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku and Phu Quoc.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, local airlines are set to operate around 33,800 flights during Tet, a 14% increase over the same period last year. Domestic flights are expected to amount to 24,200, up by 2% year-on-year, while international flights are estimated to soar by 60% compared to the previous year to 9,600.
As of January 12, flights on some routes such as Thanh Hoa-HCMC and Chu Lai-HCMC had been 100% booked. However, there are still available seats on other routes connecting HCMC-Danang, HCMC-Hanoi, Hanoi-Danang, and Hanoi-HCMC.
