More than 103,000 new Covid infections confirmed

HCMC – The Ministry of Health this evening, March 26, confirmed 103,126 fresh cases of Covid, with 103,124 being locally-infected cases, declining 5,833 cases day-on-day.

The domestic infections were detected in all 63 provinces and cities across the country. The source of transmission of over 70,700 cases remains unknown.

Hanoi again took the lead in the case number, with 9,623 cases, followed by Phu Tho, Nghe An, and Bac Giang with 4,679, 4,362, and 4,000 cases, respectively.

Besides, 14 localities, mostly in the north, reported over 2,000 cases each, such as Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Lang Son.

The provincial health authority of Nam Dinh on the same day registered to add 55,179 cases detected earlier to the national Covid monitoring system.

The country in the day reported 62 more Covid deaths, bringing its death toll linked to the coronavirus to 42,258 cases to date. Further, the current number of seriously-ill Covid patients in the country is more than 3,300 cases.

Meanwhile, more than 164,500 Covid patients were declared free of the disease today, sending the country’s total recoveries to over 5.1 million.

In related news, the Health Ministry has released its latest guidelines on Covid vaccination, saying that people who have received two doses of either the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccine can get the booster dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The booster shot should be given at least three months after their second dose.

The ministry asked its subordinates across the country and local authorities to map out vaccination plans and prepare to launch the vaccination drive safely and effectively. Also, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institutes were told to provide expertise and technical support for localities to conduct the vaccination program.
