HCMC – Vietnam and Japan are set to open more international air routes next month, connecting Nanki Shirahama Airport in Wakayama Province with Hanoi and Danang.
The first round-trip flights are scheduled for July 16 and 30.
These flights aim to facilitate the visit of Wakayama’s delegation to Vietnam and welcome Vietnamese tourists to Japan.
Wakayama Province has been a popular destination for Vietnamese interns working in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, and seafood processing. Nanki Shirahama Airport previously operated charter flights to countries like South Korea and China, but they were suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With the easing of border control measures by the Japanese government in October 2022, Wakayama’s authority has allocated a budget of US$150,000 to promote the development of international air routes with other countries.
