HCMC – Vietnam Register has announced that motorcycle emissions testing will not be mandatory when the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety takes effect on January 1, 2025.
The Government will issue guidelines for motorcycle emissions testing at a later date, according to Vietnam Register.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is collaborating with the Ministry of Transport to develop a roadmap for controlling motorcycle emissions and send it to the prime minister for consideration.
The number of motorcycles in major cities has soared substantially. In 2023, the country had over 2.4 million new motorcycle and scooter registrations, raising the total to 74 million nationwide.
