HCMC – Building on the positive performance in the past nine months, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has presented an optimistic growth scenario of 7.6-8% in the fourth quarter of this year.

Today, October 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a regular online government meeting with leaders of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities, the Government’s news site www.baochinhphu.vn reported.

The economy’s performance in the third quarter was above expectations, with GDP growth reaching 7.4%, surpassing the target by 0.7 point. Overall GDP growth for the first nine months was 6.82%.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung proposed a growth target for the fourth quarter ranging from 7.6% to 8%, which is expected to help achieve and even surpass the annual growth rate target of 7%.

To reach this goal, the minister suggested 10 key solutions, emphasizing the implementation of Government Resolution No. 143, timely support for areas impacted by natural disasters, improvement of the investment environment, and the creation of new drivers for economic growth, while enhancing the livelihoods of residents.

The minister also urged relevant ministries and departments to enhance traditional growth drivers and resolve challenges to pave the way for higher economic growth in the remainder of the year.
