HCMC – Three sections of the Eastern North-South Expressway and the Noi Bai-Bac Ninh-Halong Expressway have been proposed to be expanded to 6-12 lanes, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The Department For Roads Of Vietnam has written to the Ministry of Transport regarding expansion of Phap Van-Phu Thu Expressway in northern Vietnam, Ben Luc-Trung Luong Expressway in southern Vietnam, Can Tho-Ca Mau Expressway in the Mekong Delta, and Noi Bai-Bac Ninh-Halong Expressway in northern Vietnam.
As per the proposal, the department suggested expanding the Phap Van-Phu Thu section from eight lanes to 10-12 lanes, the Ben Luc-Trung Luong section from six lanes to 10-12 lanes, and the Can Tho-Ca Mau section from four lanes to six lanes.
These sections are critical gateways connecting Hanoi, HCMC, and Can Tho to surrounding regions, and the expansion is deemed necessary to support future development.
The proposal also suggested expanding the Noi Bai-Bac Ninh-Ha Long Expressway from four to six lanes. This expressway is a vital part of the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong-Quang Ninh economic corridor.
