HCMC – Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue arrived in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, yesterday afternoon, April 23 (on the morning of April 24 Hanoi time), beginning his official visit to this country.
The NA Chairman’s visit to Argentina will last until April 26 at the invitation of the Speaker of Argentina’s House of Deputies, Cecilia Moreau.
During the visit, the NA Chairman will hold talks with high-ranking leaders of the country, sign cooperation agreements, participate in a business forum, and meet with the Vietnamese community in Argentina.
Argentina established diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1973. The two countries’ friendship and cooperation have been reinforced and developed during the past 50 years.
Vietnam considers Argentina one of the most important partners in Latin America. Alongside diplomatic and political relations, the ever-growing cooperation on economy, trade and investment between Vietnam and Argentina has become the foundation for the two countries’ long-term partnership.
Vietnam is the sixth largest trade partner and the fifth export market of Argentina in the world, while Argentina is Vietnam’s third largest trade partner in Latin America.
Two-way trade rose 15-fold, from US$316 in 2007 to US$4.8 billion in 2022. The two countries targeted to achieve US$10 billion in bilateral trade by 2025.
Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s visit to Argentina aims to strengthen the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Latin American countries, especially with Argentina, and to step up Vietnam’s FTA negotiations with MERCOSUR.
