NA elects Vice State President, Chief Justice, Chief Procurator

HCMC – The National Assembly (NA) this afternoon, April 7, passed resolutions to elect the Vice State President, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, and the Chief Procurator of the Supreme People’s Procuracy for the 2026-2031 term.

On the second day of its first sitting, the 16th NA continued personnel work for the 2026-2031 tenure and approved multiple resolutions related to key State positions.

Vo Thi Anh Xuan, secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice State President for the 2021-2026 term and deputy of the 16th NA, was re-elected as Vice State President for the 2026-2031 term. The resolution on her re-election was passed with all 485 deputies present voting in favor, representing 100% of those present.

The NA also passed a resolution on the election of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, with all 496 deputies present voting in favor, representing 100% of those present. Nguyen Van Quang, chief Justice for the 2021-2026 term and deputy of the 16th NA, was re-elected to the post for the 2026-2031 term.

At the same session, the NA approved a resolution on the election of the Chief Procurator of the Supreme People’s Procuracy using an electronic voting system, with 474 deputies voting in favor. Nguyen Huy Tien, chief procurator of the Supreme People’s Procuracy for the 2021-2026 term, was re-elected to the position for the 2026-2031 term.
