HCMC – The National Assembly (NA) is holding an extraordinary session this morning, March 21, to address personnel matters after the Party Central Committee agreed to relieve Vo Van Thuong from all his official duties.
This is the 6th extraordinary session since the beginning of the 15th term of the legislature.
During this session, the personnel matters that fall under the authority of the National Assembly are discussed.
The 13th Party Central Committee (PCC) yesterday, March 20, convened an extraordinary session to look into Vo Van Thuong’s request to resign from his positions as member of the Politburo and of the PCC, State President, and chairman of the National Defense and Security Council. And the Party Central Committee approved his resignation.
The National Assembly is the body that elects State President and Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, so the National Assembly must meet and decide whether to let Vo Van Thuong go.
Also at the PCC’s extraordinary session yesterday, the PCC decided to expel Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, member of the PCC, and former secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Phuc Province, from the Party.
The decision comes after she was found to have violated the rules on the don’ts for Party members and on Party members’ responsibility of acting as role models. She and other officials in Vinh Phuc and Quang Ngai provinces were placed in police custody on alleged charges of taking bribes in the Phuc Son Group JSC case.
