HCMC — The 15th National Assembly (NA) today, May 5, opened its ninth sitting in Hanoi, with a focus on revising key laws to streamline the country’s administrative system and implement recent Party decisions.
This is the longest and most legislatively intensive meeting in its history. Lawmakers are expected to consider and approve a record number of laws, including major reforms to streamline the administrative system and revise the Constitution.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man said the session would institutionalize key decisions made at the recent 11th plenum of the Party Central Committee. These include changes to the legal framework for reorganizing local government and administrative units.
Lawmakers will review 12 draft laws related to public sector restructuring and a resolution on the merger of provincial-level administrative units.
The sitting will also address institutional challenges and propose legal changes aimed at facilitating decentralization and creating new development space.
