HCMC – The 15th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 41st session today, January 6, to initiate preparations for finalizing the restructuring plan of Vietnam’s political system.
This two-day session serves as a preparatory phase for the ninth extraordinary session of the 15th NA, scheduled for late February. During this session, key legislative work related to the political system overhaul will commence.
Proposals for streamlining the political system will undergo review by the Party Central Committee in mid-February, with final decisions expected to be made during the NA’s extraordinary session at the end of the month.
Key priorities for the current session of the NA Standing Committee include the examination of four draft laws and the formation of an agenda for the upcoming NA sitting, ensuring a smooth and efficient legislative process.
NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man underscored the need to amend key legislation, including the Law on Promulgation of Legal Documents, the Law on the Organization of the NA, the Law on the Organization of the Government, and the Law on the Organization of Local Administrations.
The Ministry of Justice has identified 4,922 existing legal documents, including 167 laws, 9 NA resolutions, that require review and potential amendment to align with the new political structure.
