HCMC – The National Assembly’s next sitting is expected to commence on May 20 and conclude on June 26, looking into multiple draft laws and resolutions.
The NA Standing Committee this afternoon, April 17, discussed preparations for the seventh sitting of the 14th NA. According to local media, the sitting will be split into two sessions, with the first lasting from May 20 to June 8 and the second from June 17 to 27.
NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the sitting is expected to handle a huge workload, including 10 draft laws and three draft resolutions, and seek initial feedback on 11 draft laws, along with addressing various crucial economic, social, and state budget matters.
In reporting several issues regarding preparations for the seventh sitting, NA Secretary General Bui Van Cuong proposed adding six items to the agenda.
Those six items comprise the investment policy for Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh Expressway (linking Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc provinces), the national program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the 2021-2030 period, and a funding plan for an international arbitration award on the lawsuit on oil lots 01 and 02.
Also included in the agenda are the fire prevention and rescue law, a resolution to pilot specific mechanisms and policies for Nghe An Province’s development, and the pilot implementation of urban governance models and specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Danang City.
It is expected that during the seventh meeting, the NA will consider 24 legislative items, including 16 items related to economic and social affairs, State budget, and other significant issues.
