HCMC – Vietnam is mobilizing close to 14,000 specialists, engineers, and construction workers, along with more than 3,000 pieces of equipment, to speed up work on Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province.
The project is being accelerated to meet the Government’s target of completing construction before December 19, and beginning commercial operations in the first half of 2026, in line with the prime minister’s directive, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) reported that three packages under Component 3 have been completed, including the perimeter fencing, site leveling and drainage, and terminal piling. Twelve additional packages are currently underway.
For the transport connection package linking roads No. 1 and No. 2, Road No. 1 was opened to technical traffic on April 30. Road No. 2 has finished its foundation and pavement layers, with asphalt work 91% complete. Contractors are now focusing on traffic safety systems, landscaping, and lighting, with full completion expected within November.
ACV said prolonged and early rainy-season conditions—especially in June, September, and October, each with more than 20 rainy days—have slowed construction, particularly for underground works. The corporation has instructed contractor consortiums to adjust plans and adopt suitable construction measures to maintain progress and meet the deadlines.
