HCMC – Around three million Vietnamese and foreigners traveled in the country during the four-day National Day holiday, from September 1 to 4, according to data released today, September 5, by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

Average room occupancy at hotels and resorts nationwide amounted to 60%-65% during the holiday, the local media reported.

HCMC took the lead in terms of visitor arrivals, at 920,000, including 32,500 international tourists. The city’s average room occupancy reached over 75%, while the tourism sector fetched more than VND2.7 trillion during the holiday.

Hanoi City came second, with 422,700 visitors, including 22,700 foreigners, and got total revenue of VND1.3 trillion from tourism services during the holiday.

Many other tourist sites reported a surge in tourist arrivals, including Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and Khanh Hoa Province with over 392,000 and 356,000 travelers, respectively.

Thanh Hoa Province attracted over 245,000 tourists, up 34.4% against the same period in 2019, posting some VND500 billion in tourism revenue.

Over 239,000 people visited the central coastal city of Danang during the holiday.

Sapa in the northern upland province of Lao Cai welcomed over 93,000 visitors, while the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong received 85,000 tourists.

The national holiday helped the local tourism market bounce back strongly, while many tour operators launched numerous outbound tours to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos and Thailand.
