HCMC – The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is set to invest nearly VND1 trillion in three key renovation projects at Vinh International Airport to enhance capacity and support the economic and social development of Nghe An Province.
According to Vu The Phiet, chairman of ACV, the projects include expanding and upgrading the aircraft parking apron, renovating Terminal T1, and repairing the runway.
The aircraft parking apron expansion and renovation is expected to begin before April 30 and be completed by December, with a total investment of VND236.63 billion.
The renovation of Terminal T1, also scheduled to start before April 30 and finish by December, has a total investment of VND68.36 billion. Once completed, the terminal will have a capacity of 3 to 3.5 million passengers per year by 2030.
ACV will also invest VND623 billion in repairing the existing runway, which is 2,400 meters long and 45 meters wide, along with two taxiways, a braking strip, and a safety strip.
Phiet noted that the only outstanding issue in these projects is land clearance for the aircraft parking apron expansion. ACV has requested Nghe An Province to expedite the resolution of these legal procedures.
He also sought the province’s assistance in providing construction materials and coordinating early investment in extending the runway to 3,000 meters.
This upgrade would allow Code E aircraft such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 to operate at the airport, enabling long-haul flights and meeting future development needs.
