HCMC – The Management Board for Construction and Investment of Transportation Works Project in HCMC held an inauguration ceremony of the long-awaited Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge in Binh Tan District this morning (January 21).

The VND490.7-billion bridge started construction in early 2018 with an initial cost of VND312 billion under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) format and was expected to be completed in the same year.

However, the project was suspended when it was 70% complete due to site clearance delays. After five years, work restarted in June 2024, with the funding format changing from BOT to public investment.

The construction of the new bridge aims to replace the old one built before 1975, which had seriously deteriorated
The project was suspended when it was 70% complete due to site clearance problems
While waiting for the new bridge to be completed, people had to travel for many years through temporary bridges built on both sides, causing severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours
The new bridge crosses the Tham Luong – Ben Cat canal, starting at the intersection of Tan Ky Tan Quy Road and National Highway 1A and ending at the intersection of Tan Ky Tan Quy Road and Ma Lo Road
The completed project is about 238 meters long, including the main bridge, which is 82.7 meters long, 16 meters wide, and has four lanes. It also includes synchronous technical infrastructure such as sidewalks, roadsides, embankments, drainage systems, lighting, and green trees.
Located on the arterial road connecting the three districts of Binh Tan, Tan Binh, and Tan Phu with the city center, Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge plays an important role in solving the prolonged traffic congestion in the West
In addition, the city opened seven other traffic projects before the Lunar New Year, including Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Tran Quoc Hoan—Cong Hoa connecting road (phase 1), Duong Quang Ham Street (phase 1), Luong Dinh Cua Street (phase 1), Tang Long Bridge (phase 1), Nguyen Van Linh—Nguyen Huu Tho intersection, and Ba Hom Bridge
