HCMC – The Politburo has decided to appoint Nguyen Van Duoc, secretary of the Long An Province Party Committee, as deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee in the 2020-2025 term. Duoc is poised to become new chairman of the city after Phan Van Mai was elected as chairman of the National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee.

Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, presided over a ceremony in HCMC today, February 19, to present the appointment decision to Duoc.

The decision said that Nguyen Van Duoc, a member of the Party Central Committee, secretary of the Long An Province Party Committee, and chairman of the Long An Province People’s Council, now refrains from all posts in Long An for the 2020-2025 term.

He has been reassigned, appointed, and designated to join the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the HCMC Party Committee, and to hold the position of deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee in the 2020-2025 term.

At the ceremony, Nen said that the city was preparing procedures for the City People’s Council to elect Duoc as chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee in accordance with regulations. The 21st session of the 10th HCMC People’s Council will take place tomorrow, February 20.

The Standing Committee of the HCMC Party Committee currently consists of five members: secretary Nguyen Van Nen and four deputy secretaries—Nguyen Thi Le, chairwoman of the HCMC People’s Council; Nguyen Phuoc Loc; Nguyen Thanh Nghi; and Nguyen Van Duoc.

Yesterday, Phan Van Mai, deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee and chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, was elected as chairman of the National Assembly’s Economic and Financial Committee.
