HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has proposed investing VND1 trillion in a new interchange and frontage roads along the My Thuan-Can Tho Expressway.

This proposal involves adjusting the investment policy for the expressway’s first phase, utilizing central government funds, by the Vietnam News Agency.

The revised total investment for phase 1 now stands at over VND5,826 billion, an increase of nearly VND999 billion from the previously approved budget.

The project will include constructing an interchange with Vo Van Kiet Road to link the expressway with Vinh Long City, adding 10 km of frontage roads, and establishing a traffic control center and intelligent transportation system. These additional components are scheduled to begin in 2024 and be completed by 2025.

The first phase of the My Thuan–Can Tho Expressway spans 23 km from My Thuan 2 Bridge to Binh Minh Town in Vinh Long Province. The main route was completed and opened to traffic in December 2023, with the remaining components expected to be finalized by June 2024.

The ministry explained that the project encountered increased land clearance costs and required additional components to enhance connectivity, prompting the proposed investment adjustment.
