Nhon Trach 3 power plant slated for operation in mid-2025

HCMC – Nhon Trach 3 thermal power plant, with PV Power (HOSE, ticker: POW) as the main investor, is expected to begin operation in June 2025, according to local media.

At the roadshow organized by PV Power and Viet Dragon Securities (VDSC) on November 15, a representative from PV Power shared key information about Vietnam’s first LNG gas-fired power plant project.

Currently, Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 power plants are in the final stages of construction, with PV Power focusing on the installation process to prepare for the plant’s trial operation.

The projected plan shows that Nhon Trach 3 is expected to commence commercial power generation in June 2025, while Nhon Trach 4 is anticipated to start operations in September 2025.

At the conference, Truong Viet Phuong, deputy CEO of PV Power, said that in the January-October period of 2024, the company generated net revenue of around VND24.7 trillion, achieving 77.74% of the full-year plan. Its after-tax profit reached VND1.35 trillion, completing 136% of the full-year target.

Closing the trading session today, November 18, POW rose by 0.44% against the final session last week to VND11,300, with more than 4.2 million shares changing hands.

On the southern bourse, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange lost 1.45 points, or 0.12% compared to the previous session, at 1,217.12 points, with 184 winners and 181 losers.

More than 646 million shares worth VND15.56 trillion were transacted on bourse, down by 13.92% in volume and 16.6% in value against the previous session. Block deal transactions accounted for VND2.2 trillion.

The VN30 basket saw 12 stocks advancing and 14 declining, with PLX being the biggest decliner, down by just 1.8%. On the other hand, TPB was the best performer in the group, with a rise of 2.6%. Noteworthy were the impressive reversals of SSI and VHM, which gained 1.4-1.5%.

SSI and VIX stocks increased by 1.5% and 2.1%, respectively, with trading volumes topping the market, each exceeding 24 million shares.

On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index inched up by 0.26 point, or 0.12%, at 221.79 points. There were around 53 million shares traded on the market, with a combined value of VND878 billion.
