HCMC – A passenger bus traveling on National Highway 4H in Dien Bien province crashed into the mountainside, leaving one person dead and 17 others injured, said local reports.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on October 16, when the bus, with a 50-year-old driver behind the wheel, was traveling from Muong Cha District to Nam Bo District. Upon reaching the Huoi My area in Muong Cha District, the bus veered into the mountainside on the right side of the highway.
The crash left one person dead at the scene and 17 others injured. Among the injured, two victims sustained broken legs, one suffered a crushed leg, and two are suspected to have traumatic brain injury.
An initial police assessment suggested that the accident occurred due to the bus’ brake failure while descending a slope.
